    Reasoning

Reasoning occurs when artificial intelligence (AI) technologies analyze information, solve problems, or answer questions.

    What Is Reasoning?

Humans use reasoning every day to make decisions, form judgments, and take action. AI solutions — designed to mimic human capabilities to a certain degree — follow suit, using reasoning to: Analyze information Make predictions Make decisions Form connections between concepts Solve problems Answer questions As with human reasoning, there are many different types of AI reasoning. Deductive reasoning occurs when AI evaluates logic according to predefined rules. Inductive reasoning, on the other hand, is when AI forms conclusions based on patterns. And just like human reasoning, AI reasoning isn’t always correct. It’s informed by enormous amounts of data, but it also involves a level of logic. As such, humans should always check AI outputs for accuracy and completeness, particularly when generating information that represents a brand or product. Incorrect information can undermine a brand and break customer trust.
