    Modules

    Activation

Enables brands to activate product content (stored in Base Platform) to all digital shelf endpoints, such as retailers and marketplaces

    • Includes understanding unique retailer requirements and translating channel-specific mapping/transformations

Includes options for two “non-traditional” endpoints not specific to a particular retailer

    • Open Catalog: Standardized product content data pool that any brand can publish to and any retailer can pull from
    • Digital Catalogs: Allows brands to centrally manage their product content and digital assets, then activate them to Digital Catalogs to be used for training/enablement/sales

    PIM

(generally for new customers and customers that purchased Salsify after 2/1/2020)

    Governance

(generally for customers that purchased Salsify prior to 2/1/2020)

Enables brands to add structure and governance to how product content is stored and validated

    • Structured control over content validation, data management, and governance processes facilitates the creation of a “source of truth” and content management at scale
    • Ability to create taxonomies and add validation rules to those taxonomies
    • Access to extensive hierarchical data modeling to define the structure of product families
      • Use of inheritance to more efficiently store data throughout a product family
    • PIM specific workflow features including taxonomy and validation driven flows
    • Custom Data types (e.g. BOM, Brand, Assortment)
    Applications

Salsify tool for building and publishing enhanced content at scale and across retailers

    • Also referred to as “below-the-fold” content, or A+ content, or Rich Media
    • Uses graphic layouts and multimedia elements such as video, 360 views, etc. to showcase product features and provide detailed product information

    Insights

A suite of digital shelf analytics reports that deliver data and actions to optimize product performance.

    • Content Module: includes Product Page Scorecards, Content Compliance, Share of Search, and Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
    • Buy Box Module: includes Buy Box & Availability, Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) Price Comparison, and Competitive Price Intelligence

    PIM for D2C

Above mentioned PIM functionality for the purpose of enabling brands to manage, activate, engage, and optimize product content on their D2C destinations (e.g., Shopify, Bigcommerce, Magento)

    Marketplace Commerce

An inventory and order management exchange that enables marketplace selling on platforms such as Amazon Seller Central, Google Shopping Actions, and more

    • Centralizes all orders from disparate endpoints
    • Ensures product availability matches actual inventory across sites

    Offering Entitlements

    Cross-Product

    User

Authorized User means each of Customer’s employees, agents, and independent contractors who are provided access to the Platform.

    • If a third-party partner is given user credentials and works for a customer on behalf of Salsify, those users are not counted toward customer entitlements

All user counts are based on the number of active users, defined as users that have accessed Salsify within the most recent 60 day period.

    SKU

A uniquely identifiable record stored in the Salsify platform, including product and non-product records. SKUs exclude digital assets.

In the case of records in a hierarchy, the records at each level of the hierarchy are counted separately.

    Digital Asset

Any content that is stored digitally in the Platform, including images, videos, comparison charts, photos, logos, and brand guides.

    Operating Unit

A distinct licencing center for an organization

    • Can vary depending on the internal structure of a customer’s business

    • Generally represents a separate management structure and/or P&L (i.e. Region, Brand, Country, Division, etc.)

    Bandwidth

The amount of data transmitted from Salsify’s Content Delivery Network (CDN) to any internet channel in a defined time period.

Note: A CDN provides highly available and performant access to your Salsify Digital Assets (media files) to end-users across the internet using a geographically distributed network of servers. Salsify's CDN also provides Digital Asset transformation capabilities. Salsify's CDN offering is through a partner, Cloudinary.

    Storage

The size, measured in bytes, of all assets that a Customer has stored in the Platform, assessed in a defined time period.

    Instances

    Production Instance:

    • Salsify environment that supports business users
    • Each Operating Unit includes a subscription for one (1) production instance

    Non-Production Instance:

    • An additional environment beyond production (e.g. staging, QA, etc.)

    Module/Application-Specific:

    Digital Shelf (Activation)

A unique selling destination. There are three considerations for what qualifies as a digital shelf:

    1. Unique .com endpoint: For most retailers and marketplaces, this is typically a .com endpoint, regardless of the number of channels used in Salsify to send product data to the endpoint. Examples: Lowes.com, Wayfair.com.  A D2C site also qualifies as a unique .com endpoint.

    2. Same .com but different selling models: Distinct selling models (1P/owned vs 3P/marketplace) that are part of the same .com domain count as unique digital shelves. Examples: Walmart.com (1P) vs Walmart Marketplace (3P) and Amazon Vendor (1P) vs Seller (3P) -- each would be two different digital shelves

    3. Family of domains that operate as a single entity: Example: Amazon treats all five Amazon Marketplaces in Europe as a single entity -- Amazon Europe. That would represent a single Amazon Europe Digital Shelf, allowing customers to activate content across all available Amazon marketplaces in Europe.

    Channel (Activation)

A content syndication endpoint from the Platform

    • One channel could support a single eCommerce site; or
    • One channel could support a subset of an eCommerce site (i.e. item set-up or content refresh.)
    • Channel counts also include custom channels

    Activation Region (Activation)

A geographic region where an organization is entitled to activate content

    • Refers only to where the data is being sent, not where it is created or managed

    • There are five Activation Regions: 1. North America (US, Canada, Mexico); 2. EMEA (Countries in Europe, Middle East, and Africa); 3. APJ (Countries in Asia-Pacific, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Oceania); 4. China; 5. LATAM (Countries in Latin America and South America)

    Impression (Enhanced Content)

The total number of times a product page is viewed in a defined time period

    GLN (GDSN)

“Global Location Number.” A GLN is a GS1 Identification Number

    Marketplace (Marketplace Commerce)

An e-commerce destination that processes consumer transactions for brand manufacturers or other sellers to fulfill and service

    Orders (Marketplace Commerce)

Any new order brought into the Platform after Salsify initiates a marketplace connection

    • An order is defined as a unit of customer purchase with a single 'Order ID' from the end-marketplace

    Listing (Insights)

A unique product that is live on a retailer site and monitored through an Insights report

    Site (Insights)

An individual website domain that is monitored by Insights

    • In cases where one digital shelf has multiple URLs, the number of sites is equivalent to the number of distinct URLs (example: walmart.com, marketplace.walmart.com and grocery.walmart.com count as 1 digital shelf, but 3 sites)

    Frequency (Insights)

The number of times Salsify crawls a given product on a product detail page in a defined time period (e.g. every 8 hours)
