    About Wells Lamont

A leader in the glove and protective wear industry since 1907, Wells Lamont LLC has built a century-long reputation on advanced technology, robust support, and unwavering quality for safety distributors and end-users alike.

While a lot has changed since 1907, one thing hasn’t: Wells Lamont is stubborn about quality. In the modern era, maintaining this philosophy means ensuring it delivers high-quality products and maintains data integrity across every corner of the digital shelf.

As Wells Lamont’s product catalog expanded to encompass more than 2,000 distinct items, the legacy systems meant to manage their product data began to fracture.

"We were living in a world of data confusion,” says Ashley DiPalma, senior director of ecommerce at Wells Lamont. “There was no source of truth, and information wasn’t aligned across the systems or team members. There were no alerts if data was updated to redeploy content/specs.”

“This resulted in data being shared with retail partners that was inaccurate, and we were experiencing retailer chargebacks," she adds.

Cross-functional departments found themselves managing product attributes across siloed software and driving complexity with customization by retailer.

For example, the sales team was manually maintaining bespoke Excel files custom-made for individual retailers, forcing product and supply chain teams to also manually enter data.

Simultaneously, the product team’s workflows were isolated in both their enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and BeProduct, and the marketing team members were separately storing content data in Excel files, blind to specific retailer requirements and formatting needs.

Working in these isolated silos caused constant headaches across the company.

“We had no source of truth and information was entirely unaligned across both systems and people, which caused internal confusion,” DiPalma says. “Not only were we wasting time on duplicative work, but bad data ended up on retailer sites and systems, which resulted in costly fines and even more manual work to correct errors.”

To protect its brand reputation and support the broader group goal of scaling omnichannel and ecommerce accounts, Wells Lamont needed to transition its team from tactical data wrangling to strategic brand building.

“This shift completely transformed daily operations for item set-up, content deployment and asset management. We finally got different departments talking to each other. Critically, it also helped our relationships with retail partners.”

Recognizing the immediate need for a unified solution, DiPalma championed the implementation of Salsify PXM.

The strategic approach began by breaking down departmental silos, standardizing terminology, and collaborating across teams to map out how legacy data sources would feed into a centralized platform.

Wells Lamont rapidly deployed a comprehensive suite of Salsify modules to automate data control and maximize velocity:

    • Salsify PIM: Centralized all product data into Salsify’s PIM with relevant hierarchies and data models.

    • Direct and Custom Channels: Established direct API connections to primary retail giants like Amazon and Walmart, while leveraging Salsify’s custom channels to seamlessly deliver data to retail partners who don’t have direct connections, reducing the team’s dependency on spreadsheets.

    • Salsify Workflows: Created AI-powered workflows to proactively find content gaps, test new item additions, and ensure every data update is vetted and tracked.

    • Catalog Sites: Leveraged Salsify Catalog Sites to share digital assets with external agencies, while allowing internal and external stakeholders to access data without needing full platform access.

"I stepped into my role at Wells Lamont just a little over a year ago and immediately saw the need and use case for Salsify,” DiPalma says. “While there was hesitancy at first in adding another tool to our stack, the drastic improvement in efficiency, time savings, and data confidence was quickly recognized as a massive value by our leadership as we continue to scale our business across both brick-and-mortar and online channels.”

"We worked cross-functionally to validate our data, standardize our governance and inheritance rules, and completely re-engineer our data models,” DiPalma says. “Salsify allowed us to establish a centralized control center that bridges the gap between product, marketing, and sales.”

By moving away from manual spreadsheets and embracing automated data governance, Wells Lamont earned the prestigious 2026 Digital Shelf Transformer Award for operational efficiency.

The company cites several impressive wins, including a massive boost in team morale.

“This shift completely transformed daily operations for item setup, content deployment, and asset management,” DiPalma says. “We finally got different departments talking to each other. Critically, it also helped our relationships with retail partners.”

But the most compelling part of the story is the hard data behind the turnaround.
