    Salsify CommerceXM Definitions and Entitlement Guide

    The following definitions and entitlements shall apply if, and to the extent, purchased by Customer on an Order:

    CommerceXM Platform

    CommerceXM Core Platform

    Salsify’s CommerceXM Core Platform provides the Customer with the baseline level of product data storage and management capabilities. All customers must purchase the CommerceXM Core Platform as it serves as the foundation on which all other Salsify solutions are built.

    Key platform capabilities include:

    • Security
      • User and group permissions enabling administrators to control which platform features are available to which users and groups
      • Entity permissions enabling more granular control of access to specific products and other entities
      • Single Sign-On to support integration with any SAML 2.0 compliant enterprise directory system
    • Workflows (and Alerting)
      • To manage and scale self-serve orchestration of content-based flows across teams
      • Dynamic task assignment
      • Editing, commenting, user tagging, reverting, and approving draft states of content
    • API access
      • Providing access to Salsify’s RESTful APIs for automation, integration and application development
    • Hierarchical data modeling (up to 4 levels)
    • Property inheritance
      • Ability to inherent attributes through levels of the hierarchy
    • Record and Digital Asset import, export, storage and management capabilities
    • Search & Filter
      • Create complex search filters using any combination of properties, including filtering by values in computed properties, support for fuzzy matching, search on ranges etc.
    • Record storage in multiple languages
    • User administration / management console
    CommerceXM Enterprise Services

    CommerceXM Enterprise Services is an optional add-on to expand the capabilities of the Commerce XM Core Platform, typically used in Product Information Management (“PIM”) use cases. It incorporates additional data modeling functionality that lets brands add structure, relationships, and validations to product content.

    • Content validation via structured rules
      • Structured control over content validation, data management, and governance processes facilitates the creation of a “system of record” and content management at scale
    • Taxonomy creation and management
      • Ability to create taxonomies and add validation rules to those taxonomies
    • Hierarchical data modeling (greater than 4 levels)
    • Custom Record Data types (e.g. Brand, Color, Material, etc)

     

    CommerceXM Modules
    Salsify Activation

    Enables Customer to syndicate product content (stored in CommerceXM Core Platform) to digital shelf endpoints, such as retailers and marketplaces

    • Enables brands to publish above-the-fold content
    • Includes channel-specific validations as defined by the retailer (vs. as defined by the brand) for unique retailer requirements 
    • Channel-specific mapping/transformations
    • Syndication paths vary by endpoint, including: templated exports, direct connection, API, FTP, custom connection, or other. Includes options for one “non-traditional” endpoint not specific to a particular retailer
    • Includes access to Salsify Open Catalog
    Salsify Open Catalog

    Standardized product content data pool that any brand can publish data to and any retailer can pull data from

    • Support for 70+ attributes across 15 verticals
    • Ability to export via UI, SFTP, or API
    • Available only as a component of the Salsify Activation module
    Salsify Enhanced Content

    Solution for building and publishing enhanced content layouts to digital shelf endpoints

    • Also referred to as below-the-fold content, or A+ content, or Rich Media 
    • Customers use the Salsify Enhanced Content Experience Builder to customize content layouts or leverage prebuilt templates to publish content to the Salsify Enhanced Content retailer network
    • Uses text and multimedia elements such as video, image galleries, comparison charts, feature tours, etc. to showcase product features and provide detailed product information
    Salsify Automated Insights

    Suite of digital shelf analytics reports that collect data from retail endpoints for Customer to measure and optimize product page performance 

    • Content Digital Shelf: includes Compliance, Share of Search, and Product Page Grades
      • Compliance Reporting cross-references content live on the Product Description Page (PDP) against the source of truth in Salsify to help ensure accuracy and brand compliance. 
      • Share of Search Reporting measures product search rank among specified keywords.
      • Product Page Grades Reporting analyzes product content against conversion-driving metrics.
    • Buy Box Digital Shelf: includes 3P Sellers, In-Stock Availability, and Minimum Advertised Price (MAP)
      • 3P Sellers Reporting monitors which seller wins the buy box. 
      • In-Stock Availability Reporting monitors if a product is in-stock on the product page.
      • Minimum Advertised Price Reporting monitors price on the PDP and identifies if it falls below specified MAP.

    Each Automated Insights Digital Shelf Module contains three reports and each module is purchased separately.

    Salsify DTC

    Enables Customer to syndicate product content (stored in CommerceXM Core Platform) to brand owned digital shelf endpoints, such as brand direct-to-consumer (DTC) or business-to-business (B2B) websites, including:

    • Native and non-native connections to ecommerce platforms (e.g. Shopify, Big Commerce)
    •  Channel-specific validations as defined by the brand (vs. as defined by the retailer) for unique direct-to-consumer site requirements 
    • Channel-specific mapping/transformations
    • Publishing paths include: templated exports, direct connection, API, FTP, custom connection, and iPaaS (or other middleware). 

     

    Salsify GDSN

    A tool that allows users to manage logistical data according to GS1 data standards and publish it through a Salsify integrated GDSN data pool to the GDSN network. Salsify’s data pool is a GS1 Certified Data Pool that provides brands the ability to synchronize logistics and e-commerce content across a global network of participating GDSN recipients.

    • Add GS1-standard or optional logistics properties to product records in Salsify
    • Publish product records to the Salsify’s integrated GDSN data pool for further syndication to retailer data pools using the GDSN standard format and protocol

     

    Salsify Sites & Experiences

    Salsify Sites & Experiences enables the creation of out-of-the-box,  B2B, or B2E focused site experiences.

    • Sites: Includes all functionality under Classic Catalogs, as well as the following:
      • Ability to preview and publish Sites using “ready and complete” product data
      • Product groupings & variant displays for an improved navigation
      • Global property sets to scale catalog site management across teams & markets
      • Branding customization for more personalized site experiences

    • Classic Catalogs: Allow for the sharing of data stored in Salsify with customers, partners and teams. 
      • Record and property selection
      • Content in digital catalogs always reflect the live data in CommerceXM Core Platform
      • Search and filtering
      • Spreadsheet exports
      • Digital asset exports

    Salsify Orders & Inventory

    A centralized commerce hub for Customer to manage products, inventory, and orders across supported marketplaces, social platforms, and ecommerce platforms. Functionality included with Salsify Orders & Inventory:

    • Inventory management- send inventory and product feeds from Salsify
    • Order management- centralize all orders in Salsify
    • Performance reporting- analyze order volume across sites in the performance report

     

    This module includes product content syndication using direct connections that support inventory and order integration. * (Note: ecommerce platforms require an additional subscription for the product feed via the Salsify DTC product).  These endpoints do NOT count against a company’s allotment of digital shelves.

    Note: A subscription for Salsify Orders & Inventory also requires Customer to purchase the proportionate level of entitlements to orders (the number of orders expected to be processed by Salsify annually).

     

    SKUlibrary Retailer Activation Network (Activation)

    Syndication access to the exclusive SKUlibrary retailer network from SKUvantage. These retailers are in Australia/New Zealand.

     

    CommerceXM Entitlements
    Salsify User

    Salsify User means each of Customer’s employees, agents, and independent contractors who are authorized with access to the Platform.

    Each Salsify User’s license is intended solely for such Salsify User and cannot be shared or used by any other individual, provided that it may be reassigned to a new Salsify User replacing the previous Salsify User if the previous Salsify User terminates its employment Customer, changes job status or function, or otherwise no longer requires use of the Platform.  

    For avoidance of doubt, the aggregate number of Salsify Users accessing and using the Platform at any time shall never exceed that aggregate amount of Salsify User licenses purchased by Customer.


    Production Instance

    Any part of the Customer’s instance of the CommerceXM Platform that is a live environment in operational use, as opposed to, for example, a test environment.


    Non-Production Instance

    An additional Salsify environment beyond production (e.g. Staging, Sandbox, QA, etc.)


    Record

    An individual record stored in the Salsify platform, including product (i.e SKU, GTIN, UPC) and non-product (i.e brand, swatch, affiliate, brand ambassador) records. Records exclude Digital Assets. Record entitlements apply to both production and non-production instances.

    In the case of records in a hierarchy, the records at each level of the hierarchy are counted separately. Records representing the same product or other entity in two or more Salsify instances are counted separately.

    Digital Asset

    Any content that is stored digitally in the Platform, including images, videos, comparison charts, photos, logos, and brand guides. Digital Asset entitlements apply to both production and non-production instances. Digital Assets representing the same content stored multiple times in one or more Salsify instances are counted separately.

    Asset Storage

    The size, measured in gigabytes, of all digital assets that a Customer has stored in the Platform. Asset Storage entitlements apply to both production and non-production instances.

    Asset Bandwidth

    The monthly amount of data, in gigabytes, transmitted from Salsify’s content delivery network (CDN) to any internet channel. Asset Bandwidth entitlements apply to data stored in both production and non-production instances.

    Digital Shelf

    A digital shelf is a distinct, shopper destination (as defined by a unique domain name) with a specific selling model (1P, 3P, D2C, or listing only). This includes third-party intermediaries that pass-through a brand's content to shopper destinations.

    Digital shelves form the core entitlement that scales pricing for many of our products. The definition of a Digital Shelf is the same for all of these (above), though the specifics of the entitlement meaning vary from product to product as described below.

     

    Activation Digital Shelf

    Number of Digital Shelves that are the target of above-the-fold content syndication. 1 Digital Shelf license entitlement is consumed when a customer has 1 or more channels configured in at least 1 of their Salsify instances that is used to syndicate content to a particular Digital Shelf.


    Enhanced Content Digital Shelf

    Number of Digital Shelves that are the target of below-the-fold enhanced content publication. 1 Digital Shelf license entitlement is consumed when a customer has an Enhanced Content destination configured in at least 1 of their Salsify instances that is used to publish Enhanced Content to a particular Digital Shelf.

    Automated Insights Digital Shelf

    Number of Digital Shelves for which Salsify is producing Content reports plus Number of Digital Shelves for which Salsify is producing Buy Box reports.

    Content Insights Digital Shelf

    1 Digital Shelf license entitlement is consumed when a customer has 1 or more channels configured in at least 1 of their Salsify instances that is used to generate any of our Content reports for a particular Digital Shelf.

    Buy Box Insights Digital Shelf

    1 Digital Shelf license entitlement is also consumed when a customer has 1 or more channels configured in at least 1 of their Salsify instances that is used to generate any of our Buy Box reports for a particular Digital Shelf.

    DTC Digital Shelf

    1 Digital Shelf license entitlement is consumed when a customer syndicates product content to a particular direct-to-consumer domain.

    GLN (GDSN)

    1 global location network entitlement allows a user to syndicate GS1 content through 1 or more channels to target the GDSN destination identified by the GLN.

    Page Views (Sites & Classic Catalogs)

    A Page View is an occurrence of a page being loaded (or reloaded) in a browser when someone visits a published Site or Catalog URL. One entitlement includes 10,000 Page Views for Salsify Sites and/or Classic Catalogs, and can be increased in blocks of 10,000 Page Views. 

    Orders & Inventory Orders

    Any new order brought into the platform by an Orders & Inventory connection. An order is defined as a single transaction of a customer purchase with a single 'Order ID' from the point of sale.

     

    CommerceXM Definitions
    Ultimate Parent Company

    The uppermost entity within a corporate hierarchy.

    Salsify Licensed Unit (SLU)

    The unit within a company by which Salsify licenses its Solutions. An SLU is the intersection of :

    • Business line within a company; and
    • The geography in which that business line operates

    The parties shall work in good faith to agree on the SLUs as part of the sales process.

    Business Line

    A brand, or logical grouping of brands, within a company.

    Geography

    By default, a country. Countries may be consolidated into regions if reflective of the company’s organizational structure.

     

    Pricing Tier

    The Pricing Tier dictates a Customer's pricing for the CommerceXM Core Platform, Enterprise Services, Modules, and Entitlements, as set forth on the Order.  Salsify defines its Pricing Tiers based on a range of total net sales of the Ultimate Parent Company, and each SLU, as detailed in the table below.

    Specific allowances purchased by the customer, tied to functionality within the CommerceXM Core Platform or Modules.
