$38 Million Dollars in R&D Innovation and Global Expansion of Customer Success Team Drives Increased Customer Investments in Salsify PXM Platform

BOSTON, January 31, 2024 — Salsify, the Product Experience Management (PXM) platform empowering brand manufacturers, distributors, and retailers to win on the digital shelf, today announced a year of growth driven by the business value created by its customers using Salsify. In 2023, 70,000 Salsify PXM users in 140 countries used 365 million automated workflow tasks to help publish 740 million products across more than 950 destinations worldwide with maximum efficiency and performance impact.

In addition, Salsify was recognized as a “Leader” in the latest PIM market evaluation, “The Forrester Wave™: Product Information Management, Q4 2023” which stated, “Salsify delivers on the promise of better product performance on commerce touchpoints. Salsify’s vision centers on mastering multichannel data management, automation, and AI.”

The company’s technology leadership was underscored by its acceptance into  the MACH Alliance in 2023, validating the company’s future-proof, open, and supplier-friendly software.

"Salsify’s performance in 2023 is a testament to the growing importance of winning efficiently on the digital shelf to our customers and their business success," said Jason Purcell, co-founder and CEO of Salsify. “In 2024, we will redouble our efforts to advance the ways our customers can work with us and our partners to centralize their product data, connect to their digital shelf endpoints, and automate as much of their PXM operations as possible.”

In response to Salsify’s growing global customer footprint, the company started a process to realign its customer success resources around the world, while increasing its overall customer success team resources. The company will expand its customer success team worldwide by 10% in 2024.

The company's global partner network continues to expand across delivery and technical partnerships with double digit growth in partner- led opportunities and a best in class win rate of 35% or better. Forrester’s market evaluation, “The Forrester Wave™: Product Information Management, Q4 2023”, gave Salsify the highest score possible in the “Partner Ecosystem” criterion, stating, “The platform powers more than 1,800 customers and has a growing footprint across most geographies that a large partner and retailer-based expansion strategy accompanies…Salsify is a good fit for large enterprises looking to accurately activate their products on a multitude of global digital shelves.”

In 2023, Salsify invested $38 million in production innovation, to advance the business value realized by its customers. This investment drove advancements and recognition across a number of areas that are critical to customer business success:

    AI and Automation:

    • To fully realize the growth potential of the digital shelf, it is critical that PXM operations and optimization be automated and informed by AI to drive maximum efficiency and optimized performance across an entire product portfolio, instead of just customers’ top products. Salsify is the only PXM solution with unified PIM, syndication, and automation built together from the ground up on an extensible platform. This foundation sets the stage for rapid automation and AI advances from both Salsify and technology partners in 2024.

From The Forrester WaveTM: “Most notably, [Salsify] has innovated with extensive workflow capabilities that help drive business agility during product information enrichment, focusing on endpoint activation.”

    Global PXM Network Growth:

    • Salsify’s deep investment to enabling Amazon success for customers globally continued in 2023, with more than 21 new 1P, 3P, and A+ direct connections added, and the ability to automatically collect ASINs and make its feedback easier to act on. In recognition of our partnership, Amazon featured Salsify in a developer success story on its selling partner website.
    • Among other retailers, the remaining walled gardens that hamper quality, add costs, and slow time to market are coming down. In 2023, there was a dramatic shift in retailers investing to be sure they would have best-in-class product data coming through its suppliers’ vendor of choice.  New above-the-fold direct connection highlights in 2023 included Albertsons, DoorDash in US and Canada, Uber in 8 markets across North and South America, Indiepiet, and Schnucks. There are several more in process that we expect will remove the remaining walled gardens. Salsify has been pursuing this vision with you for 10+ years, and 2023 marked the single biggest step forward in this journey.
    • Our global GDSN enhancements continued, including expansion to Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, and France, and support for the GS1 Data Quality Excellence program in Germany. In addition, Salsify CEO Jason Purcell was appointed to GS1’s GDSN Board of Directors.
Salsify Open Catalog, a free, open, and standardized product catalog focused on CPG, Grocery, and Alcohol, continued to grow, with 4,400 brands publishing 165,000 SKUs with more than 200 retail recipients participating.
    • Using Salsify’s Open Catalog Premium offering, retailers such as Schnuck’s and IndiePet are standing up open direct connections with its suppliers with limited IT investment and in as little as three months.

    Commerce Tech Stack Integration:

    • Salsify continues to be a critical component of its customers’ overall commerce technology stack. In 2023, Salsify delivered a new app for B2C Commerce on the Salesforce AppExchange to  automate product publishing for new and existing products.
    • Salsify also released a new GraphQL integrated solution for the ShopifyPlus app store. From The Forrester WaveTM: “Reference customers spoke highly about Salsify, with one large B2C retail reference customer sharing: ‘Since we transitioned to the Salsify PIM, our e-commerce business through Shopify has grown rapidly in the past two years. It’s one of best partners I’ve had from a vendor standpoint and always interested in my opinion.”’

As a reflection of their innovation and success with Salsify,  many customers shared the stories of their success with the industry. The latest case studies appear on the Salsify website. The most outstanding examples of customer performance, growth, and innovation during 2023 will be recognized with Digital Shelf Transformer Awards at the Digital Shelf Summit in Nashville from April 8th-10th
