As the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) is an open standard, it’s commonly assumed that all GDSN data pools are interchangeable. Data pools should theoretically provide complete interoperability, GDD attribute support, and transparency into GDSN target requirements, but this is not the case.
The end result for this lack of complete interoperability? Global manufacturers often have a half dozen (or more) GDSN data pool providers spread across regions — often including several providers within the U.S. alone. GDSN data pools differ substantially across several vital dimensions.
