If your brand sells on Wayfair, publishing and updating product content is now much easier thanks to a new product refresh and updated integration between Wayfair and the Salsify Product Experience Management (PXM) platform.
Wayfair and Salsify have launched a product addition API, a new feature designed to automate content syndication to the Wayfair channel.
Here’s what you need to know about the updated Salsify-Wayfair connection and how it makes everything from item setup to managing product data much more efficient.
Salsify and Wayfair have partnered for several years to make it easier for suppliers to deliver rich, complete, and compliant product experiences to shoppers.
“The Salsify and Wayfair partnership is centered around removing friction,” says Jeff Mitchell, a senior retail success manager at Salsify who helps manage the Wayfair partnership. “Whether it's above-the-fold content through one of several unique connections, or whether it's that rich, below-the-fold WayMore content or even ongoing product updates, the two platforms are designed to work together to help you deliver accurate conversion-ready experiences at scale.”
Through the Salsify PXM platform, suppliers centralized product information and digital assets, including any Wayfair-specific attributes or category requirements, to ensure their product data aligned with Wayfair standards.
Previously, suppliers could map their product data to Wayfair requirements in Salsify, but then had to manually export that data and upload it to Partner Home, or the partner’s channel homepage, using spreadsheets.
However, the product addition API now fully automates this process, allowing suppliers to map their product data to Wayfair standards inside Salsify and submit directly to Wayfair with just one click.
The product addition API facilitates an end-to-end, fully automated connection that speeds new item set-up on Wayfair.
This new feature completely eliminates the previous export-import step, enabling suppliers to bring conversion-driving product experiences to market faster using a single workflow.
The API delivers efficiencies that include one-click item setup, in-app feedback, and product data management across multiple categories at once.
Suppliers can submit standard products and leverage Salsify’s built-in readiness score to quickly assess any missing information before submitting to the Wayfair channel.
If Wayfair requires changes, suppliers will know this immediately and can take action without leaving their workflow.
“This is the simplest, fastest, and most direct item-creation process that we've ever offered together,” Mitchell says.
The Salsify PXM becomes the sole hub for preparing, validating, and submitting Wayfair product data. The API also supports cross-category management, allowing suppliers to handle new item setup across multiple categories all at once.
This delivers cleaner data, better accuracy, and less manual transfer, so the risk of error goes down and compliance goes up, Mitchell says.
To activate this channel, suppliers can follow a straightforward process.
Request activation from Salsify Support.
Map and publish product data in Salsify PXM.
Wayfair will review this information and deliver any feedback a supplier needs to address.
From there, Wayfair will approve the content, and it will go live.
If your team already uses the Salsify PXM platform, you can prepare to take advantage of this new feature by downloading the latest Wayfair product addition forms, Mitchell says.
“Have that ready,” he adds. “Then make sure that all required and recommended Wayfair attributes are stored in your PIM and use Salsify workflows to confirm your data is accurate before you submit anything to Wayfair.”
After completing these steps, you can contact Salsify Support to activate the product edition channel in your Salsify instance. Once the channel is enabled, you can begin syndication. The Salsify knowledge base also includes additional information about how to activate this channel.
Product updates, media additions, and WayMore enhanced content will continue to use the current Salsify-Wayfair connection. However, Salsify and Wayfair plan to evolve the experience. Future enhancements include:
Nick Rushman, senior manager for merchandising operations at Wayfair, says the new automation and future enhancements demonstrate the company’s longstanding commitment to driving powerful, integrated catalog management that empowers suppliers to deliver the best possible ecommerce experience.
“We want to enable an experience that allows you to maximize your investments in technology and choose the best workflow for your business,” Rushman says. “Forcing you to juggle multiple interfaces can complicate complex data management. Our goal is to give you the flexibility to manage your Wayfair catalog in the way that works best for you.”
